The Sierra Leone Nurses Association

New York Tristate Chapter (SLNA NYT)

was founded in the growing response

and concern for the health of

the SIERRA LEONEAN community and

the communities we serve at large.

MISSION

  Mission Statement

Our mission is twofold:

  • A priority is to provide support for our members' professional growth and career enhancenment.
  • Seeking to improve health care services in Africa.

    SLNA NYT aims to improve the quality of health care in Sierra Leone (SL) and reduce the spread of Malaria, HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and other preventable diseases by:

  • Providing medical equipment and supplies for SL rural health care centers. These centers provide services for the community with HIV/AIDS testing and counseling, malaria net distribution, and education on family planning, nutrition, personal and community hygiene.
  • Reaching out to the community with health education.
  • Recycling surplus medical equipment from the USA to SL.
  • Support comprehensive care for the people of SL and their communities through self-sufficient and sustainable programs by providing:
  •                        Health care services

                           Academic support

  • Community education on topics such as: water filtration systems, environmental awareness, community hygiene, nutrition, family planning, HIV/AIDS, malaria and other preventable diseases.

ABOUT US

   

A Non-Profit Organization comprised of Sierra Leonean Healthcare Professionals who aim to make a difference in the lives of those in need. Through volunteering and community service, the SLNA NYT aims to help the disadvantaged.

SLNA NYT is committed to maintaining and improving the standards of nursing care by:

  • Promoting a desirable image of Sierra Leonean Nurses.
  • Promoting through continuous nursing education and research classes and activities.
  • Partnering with non-governmental and governmental associations to promote the need to unify and strengthen the Sierra Leone community.
  • Collaborate with organizations at a national and international level.

We extend our membership to RNs, LPNs, CNAs/AIDs, and Nursing students.
